A focused fall checklist for docks, ramps, furniture and outdoor spaces before freeze-up.
Work backward from shoreline conditions
Exposed waterfront sites may need dock sections and ramps removed earlier than protected bays. Book the work while access is safe and the equipment can be stored securely on shore.
Store what weather can move or damage
Clean and store furniture, cushions, umbrellas and loose outdoor items. Clear normal seasonal debris from decks and paths, then complete a visual walkthrough for repairs that should be planned.

Separate general closing help from systems work
General cottage care should not include draining water lines, applying antifreeze, operating appliances, disconnecting utilities or testing mechanical systems unless the person doing it is specifically qualified and retained for that task.
