Every property is different. The plumbing layout, heating equipment, insulation, crawlspaces and backup plan should be reviewed by an appropriate professional before cold weather.

Keep the contact details for your plumber, heating technician, insurer and property caretaker together. Decide in advance who has access and who can authorize work if you are away.
Use visual checks for visible concerns
A scheduled visual property check may identify obvious changes or visible damage. It does not replace professional winter preparation, remote monitoring or technical system maintenance.
