Planning Winter Property Checks in Cottage Country

A useful winter check plan starts with access, frequency and a clearly defined visual scope.
Define the purpose
Visual checks are meant to notice accessible, visible changes while a property is unattended. They are not systems inspections, snow services or a guarantee against loss.
Plan for safe access
Winter roads, private lanes and shore properties can become inaccessible. Agree on how access affects timing and what happens when travel is unsafe.
Keep the scope clear
List the exterior and interior areas that can be viewed without operating equipment or taking on hazardous work. Direct snow removal and technical maintenance to the appropriate specialist.
